Usui Seiichiro from Keiondou has a way of making me want to buy his sculpts. Each one is strikingly unique, even if it's of a character that's been done to death. This one was no exception, and it was love at first sight back in 2006. After a lot of searching I finally got lucky and obtained him. This is based on an illustration from the cover of a Hentai Doujin magazine. I just love the combination of Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, two things I very much enjoy.
Once again I end up with a DC Collectibles statue that doesn't quite live up to expectations. The good news is this one is destined for a repaint very soon, so hopefully she'll look better!

My favourite episode from the first season of Haruhi is definitely "The Day of Sagittarius", and my favourite character is Nagato Yuki, so owning this kit was a foregone conclusion from the moment I saw it. Someday I'll have the full set of girls.
This was completed as a Christmas gift for my mother who teaches violin in the Suzuki method. She hasn't seen Gunslinger girls so let's not tell her what's really in the case, dig?
So much of my time when I'm not working on various projects is spent checking out the various new toy lines, as many of you know. So when I saw mention that the new Avengers movie toys had surfaced at Toys R Us I had to go check them out. As a long-time fan of Hawkeye and archer characters in general, I immediately bypassed all the Iron Man and Cap rehashes and dug for the good stuff.
On the bench is a cold cast prepainted Batman who seems to have fallen off a high shelf before coming into the possession of a local comic shop. As I hate seeing a nice sculpt go to waste, let's see what we can do to repair him. Tons of pics after the break.
This Yoko is one of many in the same pose, but this one is my favourite and in my opinion the closest to the original illustration. I decided to leave off the included gun strap as I felt it threw off the visual weight of the piece.
Moon Rabbit Mina is a weird little obsession of mine. It was part of a fantastic drama series called "Densha Otoko" as a fake anime that the main characters were enamored with. The drama proved to be so popular that they decided to actually make a real anime series based on those fake characters. Problem is, they forgot in all the hubbub that you need more than great character designs and a couple well known actors to have a successful anime (well, most of the time, though it seems to be the basis of most "moe" anime success). The show was a complete flop and poor little Mina has all but been forgotten.
In the seemingly endless line of Cardcaptor Sakura kits out there, this remains one of my favourites. The recast I received had a few problems though I've had worse. It was missing a lot of the ribbons I've seen pictured with the original, though after seeing some others online I was lucky to get any at all.
After a lot of putty, sanding, and paint we have a presentable Batman once again! In total about 8 hours of work.

Rei has paused from her vacation in Okinawa (a place I'd love to be right now) to let us take some photos! She's albino but she got a tan somehow. Maybe she vacationed in Jersey.
